Still not there

I have to schedule some time to sit down and catch up my blog from this fall/winter. In the mean time, though, I have changed out my music to get everyone excited for St. Patrick's Day!! This music is from Scotland, and more particularly Glasgow, where my 6th great grandfather, Charles Burns, is from.

Here is some information about that:
Charles was born in Lanarkshire County, Glasgow, Scotland. He departed from Scotland at Greenock on the ship Monima in 1737. Charles was married to Mary Webb, daughter of Merry Webb.

Charles was a Senator in Henry County, Virginia in the latter part of the 1700's (Henry County use to be Pittsylvania County, Virginia). Charles' father George, was born and died in Glasgow, Scotland. His wife's name was Mary (last name unknown); his grandfather was the Rev. Dr. John Burns, his wife was Jordan Probst.

This family came to Virginia, and my 5th great grandfather, William Burns, was in the Virginia militia in the Revolutionary War.

His son, Andrew, married Nancy Baker, daughter of Robert "Julius Bob" Baker. Robert served in the War of 1812 and was captured at St. Clair's Defeat

Clay County, KY was formed in his living room. Robert's father was John Renta Baker, who was a longhunter and not only went with Daniel Boone through the Cumberland Gap many times, but fought at both Kings Mountain and Cowpens in the Revolutionary War.

Andrew and Nancy Baker Burns were the parents of my third great grandmother, Easter Burns Hacker. She was married to Julius Hacker, and is buried on the Hacker farm in Jackson COunty, Kentucky. This farm is where my 2nd great grandfather, Matt, and great grandfather, Bradley Hacker were born, as well as my grandma, Elsie Hacker Stoneking.

Julius and Matt are buried on the farm. Bradley and Elsie are buried in Cleves, Ohio at Maple Grove Cemetery.
