St. Paddy's Day in SC

We went to the St. Patrick's Day parade in Savannah this weekend. Left early in the morning and made it to the ferry around 10:15. Couldn't get in front of the park, so we ended up farther toward the beginning and got a good spot in front of a house for sale with steps that allowed us to see everything! We kept in touch with Nathan, who marched with the McGraf family (Pat is one of his best friends). He got out of the parade when he got to us and watched until Zach had had enough after 2 hours. The parade stopped and we figured it was a good time to go. Later we found out that a 15 year old collapsed and died on the way to the hospital. Sad, sad. The weather was perfect, in the 70's, not hot and not rainy or cold. Zach enjoyed being on the ferry and watching the helicopters overhead. When we got back to the convention center, he walked all the way to the car. Tired of sitting! We drove along the coast, stopping for Chick-Fila lunch, and Michael's. We even found one of the trees from Forrest Gump. Tiffany is researching to see which one it is. The plan was to stop and have dinner with Travis and Amber. We brought the luggage rack from Tiffany's car so they could use it for the trip to the wedding. Just before Charleston we stopped at Food Lion and I got a St. Patrick's Day cake and some chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. Amber made some yummy tacos, and we were tickled when Zach took his little Happy Meal from McDonald's and walked out to the deck, put it on the picnic table and pulled himself up so he could eat with Uncle Budd and Papa! (Wanted to be with the men!) Finally, we left and got home around 10:00. Over the weekend we went to the mall and found some cute shoes for Zach, had a picnic at the base park, and went to the Commissary. Good thing we got home early! South Carolina had at least 6 tornadoes last night. We were very lucky not to have any of the high winds or heavy rain that others had. Nathan and Travis didn't have any either. The weather was just not typical of South Carolina at all. Today we stayed home and rested. I didn't feel well since last night and am hoping I am not getting the flu. I've avoided it all this time and really don't want it now! Tomorrow is the beginning of a 4-day week. I have class tomorrow night, and then will drive Tiffany and Zach to Charleston to get the plane. It was $400 cheaper to fly from Charleston to Charlotte and then Vegas, than to fly from Charlotte to Vegas. Crazy! The girls will all meet at Bethany's for Easter to spend some time together before Tiffany and Mike leave for Italy the middle of May. Over Spring Break I plan on sleeping in late, cleaning out my bedroom and office, and spending some time with Bruce. Then we will go to Charleston the weekend of the 28th to help Travis and Amber move into their new house. Bring on Spring!!!!

I don't get why Nate was in the parade ? Was it a club or something? Why wasn't the parade on the holiday? I like Zach's onesie! :)

Nate has been doing that parade for like 8 years or something crazy!
Glad you guys had a good time - I can't wait for little Zach-a-do to come with the Feesh!
